The Italianate building at 9 South Front Street in historic downtown Wilmington was built in 1899 by Sigmund and Bernhardt Solomon to house their dry goods business. At the turn of the century, the port of Wilmington was the major artery of supply for the whole of Southeastern North Carolina.
The building has housed many businesses in its century of existence, and the Caffe Phoenix has been happily ensconced here since 1989.
Our Caffe is highly favored for its Mediterranean fare, daily specials, home-made soups & salad dressings and dedication to consistent quality in reflection of our admiration of worldly cuisine. Our walls also serve as a gallery space for local artists with a rotating 6-week exhibition schedule, each one celebrated with an opening reception open to the public.
